Internet & Online Offences

This category of victimization includes physicial and/or sexual offences that have been committed against a child/youth or adult victim through the utilization of technology, usually online via use of the Internet.

This category of victimization includes physicial and/or sexual offences that have been committed against a child/youth or adult victim through the utilization of technology, usually online via use of the Internet. This includes a wide variey of criminal offences such as:

  1. Sexual Exploitation
  2. Sexual Assault
  3. Criminal Harrassment, Intimidation, Bullying
  4. Physical Violence or Harm or Threat of Such via the use of the Internet
  5. Creation, Possession and Distribution of Sexual Abuse Images/Videos (e.g. Child Pornography) of children/youth under that age of 18 years
  6. other Criminal offences facilitated or conducted through the use of the Internet where physical harm to the victim has been caused, or threaten to be caused.

This is a very broad category of victimization that has increased exponentially in recent years as the use of technology has become prevalent in our society. The Victim Justice Network will use this platform to highlight emerging research, best practices, and resources that can assist victims of these crimes.
