Annual Women’s Memorial March

Their spirits live within us. Began in 1992. Began as a response to the murder of a woman on Powell Street in Vancouver. Out of a sense of hopelessness, the march began to express compassion, community, and caring for all women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, Unceded Coast Salish Territories. The march has moved across several provinces to honor those women who go missing and are murdered every year, especially the increase in Indigenous women deaths across the nation.
